Context
CIDECO carried out a structural diagnosis of the Tapponnier Hall for SNCF to assist the project owner in defining rehabilitation options.
The building, constructed in 1929 as a freight terminal, was designed following the principles of François Hennebique’s company, a pioneer in the development of reinforced concrete in the early 20th century.
Operations
- Analysis of archival drawings
- Detailed visual inspection
- Non-destructive testing and localized destructive investigations
- Determination of reinforcement layout
- Assessment of concrete quality
- Measurement of carbonation depth and corrosion potential
- Structural recalculations to evaluate durability
- Recommendations for reinforcement works
