Context
As part of the design and engineering studies commissioned by the Department of Puy-de-Dôme, CIDECO was entrusted with carrying out the structural diagnosis of the Orbeil Bridge, which carries the RD9 road over the Allier River.
The objective was to provide the project owner with detailed and complementary information on the condition of the prestressed concrete structure.
Operations
- Rebar detection and concrete cover measurement (GPR survey and local destructive testing)
- Powder sampling for laboratory analysis of free chloride content
- Grout sampling for chemical and physical analysis
- Core drilling for carbonation depth and compressive strength testing in the laboratory
- Opening of inspection windows in the concrete to visually assess prestressing tendons
- Arbalète tests to estimate the residual tension of prestressing strands
- Video-endoscope inspections at beam ends to check sealing and corrosion conditions
- Issuing repair and maintenance recommendations based on all findings
