Structural health monitoring and vibration diagnostics: CIDECO builds strategic links in Germany

In late November, CIDECO headed to Bavaria for a strategic immersion at the heart of German engineering. The team travelled to Regensburg with a clear objective: assess our diagnostic and monitoring approaches against the requirements of a market known for its high technical standards.

A strong international foothold

This visit took place as part of a week focused on international collaboration, marked by the Clusters Meet Regions conference. To make the most of this opportunity, CIDECO leveraged the Corridor of Incubators, a programme resulting from an agreement between incubators within the Internation Network of Michelin Cities. This initiative enables innovative companies to explore foreign markets under favorable conditions and provided an effective gateway into the local ecosystem.

German technical standards as a proving ground

Germany is often regarded as a benchmark in civil engineering and industrial maintenance. The aim of this mission was to validate the relevance of CIDECO’s structural health monitoring solutions in response to key challenges faced by infrastructure owners and operators: ageing assets, stringent regulations and the ongoing digitalization of the construction sector.

This immersion confirmed that CIDECO’s “hybrid” approach, combining on-site physical measurements with numerical modelling,  meets the expectations of asset managers seeking robust and reliable solutions.

Technical synergies and a shared vision

Throughout the week, discussions with local stakeholders (specialist companies, public asset owners and university laboratories) were both constructive and forward-looking.

Beyond initial introductions, these exchanges addressed several advanced topics:

  • Integration of IoT and smart sensors for real-time structural monitoring

  • Emerging methodologies in predictive diagnostics

  • Management and analysis of vibration data for structural maintenance

Towards European cooperation

This first mission laid the foundations for future collaborations. Mutual interest in developing pilot structural health monitoring projects and applied research initiatives is clear. By engaging with these new perspectives, CIDECO strengthens its expertise and reaffirms its commitment to contributing to more reliable and sustainable monitoring of structures at a European level.
