Following the passage of a 47-ton heavy goods vehicle on a structure limited to 20 tonnes, the Pont de Cajarc was immediately closed to traffic as a safety measure.
CIDECO intervened urgently to carry out a detailed inspection and thus check all the components forming the structure of the bridge.
The intervention consisted of an in-depth inspection of the supports and sensitive areas of the structure, notably the main cables and hangers.
The objective was to identify any new defects related to the exceptional loading and to analyse the overall behaviour of the structure.
Our expertise in structural diagnostics of suspension bridges contributed to securing the decision-making process and to defining the conditions for reopening.
This intervention illustrates the importance of responsive engineering, capable of supporting project owners in the face of unforeseen events impacting the safety and continuity of infrastructure.
