Rive-de-Gier Viaduct

Context

CIDECO was commissioned by the Interdepartmental Directorate of Roads (DIR) Centre-East to carry out the structural diagnosis of the Rive-de-Gier Viaduct, which carries the A47 motorway over residential areas between Saint-Étienne and Lyon.

Operations

  • Rebar detection and concrete cover measurement (GPR surveys and local destructive tests)
  • Verification of concrete cover thickness to assess protection against aggressive agents (carbonation, chlorides)
  • Powder sampling for laboratory analysis of free chloride content
  • Paste sampling for laboratory analysis of cement dosage, density, and porosity
  • Corrosion potential measurements to evaluate active corrosion in reinforced concrete elements
  • Core drilling for compressive strength testing
  • Beam-end inspections to assess sealing condition
  • Surface cohesion tests
  • Repair and reinforcement recommendations
